The U.S. State Department on behalf of the assistant to the State secretary on affairs of Europe and Eurasia Daniel Fried warned Georgia about inadmissibility of any attempts of power resolution of the conflicts in Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Speaking in Washington before the group of journalists from Georgia and other countries, Fried declared: "Tbilisi should not use force, trying to restore territorial integrity of its country".
Fried also noted that after change of the leadership in 2003 Georgia had achieved the certain progress, however the authorities of the country should, in Washington’s opinion, create "effective, but not authoritative" state. As radio "Freedom" reminded, the last week the Georgian opposition had begun boycott of the parliament sessions, having declared protest against the authoritative course of president Michael Saakashvili.
