Construction of the monument to Cossacks subjected to repressions had come to the end in Ust-Dzhegut town of Karachaevo-Circassian republic, as the head of the town administration Dagir Semenov informed "Interfax-South" agency on November, 14th. "Cossacks of Ust-Dzhegutinsky area asked many years to establish this monument. However to realize idea was possible just now", - he told. As he said, competition on the best project, declared half a year ago, was won by the sculptor Svetlana Kindirova well known in the republic. The monument was built on private donations of inhabitants, enterprises and organizations of Ust-Dzhegutinsky area. The budget project cost made 400 thousand rubles.
"The monument is constructed in the center of Ust-Dzhegut just within two months; now around it they have accomplishing works", - the agency interlocutor noted. As he said, the solemn opening of the monument takes place on November, 21st on the day of the 120th anniversary from the date of construction of sacred archistratig Michael’s temple.
Let's note, it would be the second monument in Karachaevo-Circassia devoted to the victims of political reprisals. The first large memorial complex subjected to repressions of Karachai people had been opened on May, 3rd, 2005 in Karachaevsk city on the Day of Karachai people’s revival.
