A memorial to the victims of the Circassian genocide will be placed in the center of the Georgian coastal town Anaklia. The decision was made by a special commission, headed by the State Minister for Diaspora Affairs Papuna Davitaia, - reports "Caucasus Online".
According to Davitaia, placing a memorial in Anaklia, on the Black Sea coast, has a symbolic load, for all the tragic events that are related to the genocide of the Circassian people, occurred precisely at the Black Sea coast.
As noted Davitaia, 10 September will be a competition for the memorial project and anyone can take part in it.
We recall that on 20 May 2011, the Parliament of Georgia recognized the genocide of the Circassian people, carried out by Tsarist Russia.
