Representatives of the United Nations had visited libraries and schools of Karachaevo-Circassia, Minister of Education and sciences of the republic Irina Shapovalova informed about it "Interfax-South" agency on Tuesday. "They arrived with the purpose to study the region and to define the degree of possible cooperation of the United Nations with schools and libraries of the republic. Representatives of the United Nations visited a number of educational and cultural institutions of the republic and expressed great interest in teamwork. In particular, they offered their help in updating library funds of the republic with digital materials", - added the minister.
As she said, experts of the United Nations among whom there was the vice-president of the Russian committee of the United Nations on education, science and culture Alexey Demidov, who also had shown his interest in studying questions of bilingualism (in KCR there are 5 state languages, including Russian – I-S). " Having led a number of conversations and meetings, the United Nations representatives made fair remark that we, living and working in the republic with such huge potential and rich history, we do not spread information about Karachaevo-Circassia at the federal level,” – said Shapovalova.
She also added that appeal of the Ministry of education of KCR to the UN was initiated by the president of KCR Mustafa Batdiev. Earlier he had put the problem before the government of the republic - to provide participation of Karachaevo-Circassia in national projects.
