Group of young men detained at cathedral mosque of Adygeya capital

8 young men were detained on October, 22nd in 22.00-22.30 at Maykop cathedral mosque by employees of the local department on struggle against the organized crime (DSOC). The head of the subdivision of the management on struggle against extremism and terrorism refused to give any comment in that occasion to IА REGNUM correspondent. He did not (by the phone: 53-20-15) say his name, having referred that he had already introduced himself when lifted the receiver phone. But he reproached: militiamen are people too, and today is Sunday.

The lawyer of the detained persons - Osman Thabisimov - explained that the young men, in his opinion, were arrested under their religious attribute. One of the arrested persons is the imam of Maykop cathedral mosque (Ruslan Hakirov), the second one is his assistant (Asker Bogus). However some of the arrested persons did not have any attitude to religion, as the lawyer emphasized. The group could be described as “international” one: 1 Kumyk, 2 Chechens, 2 Abasins; the others were Adygs.

According to the lawyer, at night the guys in militia got "a hot reception": they were thrashed with arm weapon butts - even in faces. While thrashing they were repeatedly said "you’ve been at war, you are Wahhabists, admit that!" But by the morning such militiamen’s resoluteness faded away, so they began incriminating them “hooliganism”. However that attempt failed: judge Ruslan Matyzhev had not found in the presented demonstrative base any offences from the arrested persons.

Now, the lawyer told, all of them are released but they intend to pass medical expertise for addressing in court in occasion of their false arrest and thrashing.
