The joint session of the Council of Adyghe Khase and Circassian congress of Adygeya, devoted to the preparation for the congress of Adygeyan people of the republic, passed today, on April 13th, in Maykop. As Caucasus Times correspondent informed, the sitting had confirmed once again the date of carrying out of the congress - May 21st, - the Day of memory and grief for victims of the Russian-Caucasian war.
The basic arguments for changing the date of the congress to the earlier term (on May 6th) were: political events in Adygeya (as well as in the whole Northern Caucasus) develop so promptly, that carrying out of the congress by that time could become pointless. Today there is a pressure upon Adygeya president with the purpose to force him to resignation; the law on referendum will be passed tomorrow. About that a member of the active of Circassian congress Asker Namitokov, the chairman of the Union of Abkhazian volunteers Amin Zehov and others said.
Supporters of the first chosen date reminded: carrying out of the congress of the people means procedures - organization of citizens’ gatherings in settlements, promotion of delegates - that would take all that time. As the vice-president of Adyghe Khase Nalby Guchetl noted, nobody objected hurrying, but they shouldn’t forget that any oversight in the actions of the congress’ organizers could become the reason for contest of its legitimacy.
The councils of the organizations also approved the staff of the congress organizing committee where 12 people entered; then the organizing committee continued work in the closed mode.
