Conference devoted to Adygs’ genocide passed in Adygeya

The leaders of the social movement "Circassian congress" (Adygeya) regarded refusal in rent of a hall for a conference as an attempt to break the action of this organization. The arrangement on rent had been reached long before September, 3rd, they informed IА REGNUM correspondent; nevertheless about refusal it became known only in the evening on September, 2nd. They planned to use an assembly hall of an enterprise but the decision on refusal, in opinion of the conference’s organizers, could be made under pressure of some officials. So they had to pass the conference in another premise, however in some sense the attempt of the conference’s failure had justified itself: from the number of the invited organizations there were sent only representatives of the regional branch of the conceptual party of Russian Federation "The Unity" and members of the Jewish community of Maykop. The others, considered the leaders of "Circassian congress", were stopped with an ambiguous attitude of the authority to the organizers of the action.

At the conference two questions had been discussed: the problem of preservation for Adygeya of the status of republic, and the absence of any answer from the State Duma of Russian Federation on the reference about recognition of the genocide of Adygeyan people during and after the Russian-Caucasian war of XIX. We shall remind, the reference had been handed over by a representative of the organization on July, 1st, 2005. To the reference it was enclosed more than 500 documents of by some Russian imperial military leaders, supervised the destruction of the peace population of Circassia, as well as the violent deportation of the people in the limits of the Ottoman Empire.

In the resolution passed at the conference, it is spoken about determination to achieve the official answer from the State Duma; about intention to prepare references to authorities of the North Caucasian republics and their public with an appeal to support Adygeya in its aspiration to save its status, to prepare a reference to the PAEC concerned the status of republic. Also the members of the conference made the decision on an official written reference to the leadership of the social movement "Adyghe Khase" about a joint carrying out of a congress of Adygeyan people. As it was told at the conference, there had been some oral references to the leaders of that organization but the precise answer has not been yet received.
