The president of Georgia Michael Saakashvili considers that agreement with Russia in settling of the Georgian-Ossetinian conflict is stirred with majestic ambitions of Moscow. He declared it in the interview to "Echo of Moscow".
“We discussed with the Russian leadership the question of its resolution many times but as soon as the issue reaches concrete things, unfortunately, we collide with misunderstanding. I think this decision should be made for himself by the president of Russia, and also the military department because, as far as I understand, they have basically military interests there.
If to consider that South Ossetia was a small mountain population, historically always living there, being a social part of Georgian society, everything turns out very simple. But if to consider that there are great ambitions of the country wishing to be a superstate, all becomes much more complex", - stated Saakashvili.
He believes that settlement of the conflict around Abkhazia is just a matter of time. “We shall achieve Abkhazia, it is our country. Sukhum always was a Georgian city", - told Saakashvili. "The problem is that the population was expelled from Abkhazia: before the war there were almost 650 thousand people, now - only 100 thousand of ethnic Abkhazes ", - the president of Georgia believes.
